Personality:

For a girl who saw her mother die and was crippled at the age of six, she is very resilient.

One would expect that she would have a certain hate against the Japanese for killing her mother but that isn't the case. She is fairly open-minded about other people and is more than willing to accept them regardless of race. Unlike most of her race, she can't stand the inequality between Britians and the Japanese and wants a better world for the both of them. After all, even when she has heard all the prejudices of those around her, that makes her even more determined to find peace. She comes across as very warm, kind, and very empathetic. In that sense, she is also naïve and innocent about the world around her. Since she spent most of her life being surrounded by those who care about her, she is sheltered and especially when her brother doesn't want her to know the horrors of the world. Of course, this is what most people think about her from season one. It might be because of how Lelouch and many others have been sheltering her for so many years from how cruel the world could be...especially to people who have disabilities. However, it is because of them, she has been able to put the past aside and believe in the future where everyone can get along. As a girl who lost everything, family and friends come first. They are the only thing she has left and wants to protect them no matter what.

She was optimistic of the world despite the discrimination and assumes that most people had the best intentions. She was right to assume that but how she approached this drastically changes in season two.

After the death of her sister, Nunnally's belief in peace through nonviolence and becoming the Viceroy showcases her resilient and stubborn side of her. She asked to become one rather than being forced into it. The first thing she does as a Viceroy is to recreate the Special Administrative Zone even though she knows the challenges ahead and even standing up against Zero to support this idea. She is willing to fight back and isn't afraid to show it. She even stood up against her brother! However, with this position, there are many drawbacks. As time went by, I view Nunnally knowing what the risks are but did know how bad they were. She was still being a little naïve and too trusting of people but become more suspicious as time goes on. Now that she was Viceroy, she knew she was in a dangerous position and had to make sure she wasn't being lied to. She was aware that people were manipulating her and constantly ask for their hand to make sure. By doing so, she can sense their heartbeat and therefore, if they were being truthful. By the end of series, I think that Nunnally was aware of Schneizel's intentions so she can take responsibility for the lives that FLEIJA took. She was aware that Schneizel was manipulating her but she went with his plans anyway. She didn't want anyone else to kill and thus, wanted to take on that role herself.

Nunnally is the type of girl that wants everyone to be happy and because of this, she hates making people worry. She prefers to hide behind a smile and let people know that everything is okay...when it probably isn't. While she does tell people what she is feeling, being in a position of authority, made her a little nervous about being honest with her feelings when she usually was in the past. Adding to that, because of this new position, she can come across as a little distant because of those boundary lines. Finally, Nunnally is a girl who is too forgiving for her own good. She wants to see the good in people no matter what and even after Lelouch took over the world, she couldn't hate him. This applies to most people as well unless it was a certain extreme.

Compared to her brother, Lelouch, Nunnally does not possess a geass. However, that doesn't mean she doesn't possess any leadership skills. As Viceroy, she has the ability to lead people and help them in the best way that she can. An example of this is when she addressed to the public about making a Special Administration Zone with of Japan. While her sister, Euphemia, did the same thing with horrible results, Nunnally still went with it. The reason being is because she knew it was the right thing to do. Another example is With that said, Nunnally is extremely strong-willed and stubborn which can be viewed as an ability. Outside of her wheelchair, she is as normal as they come in terms of physical strength.

In addition, while she isn't quite as trusting as before, she does believe in the best of people. Her trusting nature could be easily manipulated by others. She is trying to become more independent but she needs other people. In a sense, she is codependent on others and especially with her emotional vulnerability regarding her brother.

All things considered, Nunnally wasn’t expecting today to go so smoothly. Between meetings and talks of a new bridge being open, it was bound to create some chaos. However, all she could do was give a small sigh as she stared out the window. For a brief moment, she was allowed to spend some time by herself. With a small cup of tea in her hand, all she could do was just simply sit and wait while she waited for everyone to finish talking outside the door. In a way it was troublesome and relaxing at the same time.

To know that despite being a Viceroy, there are still things that she was not allowed to hear. After all, she was still fairly young and there were some matters at hand might not be suited for her. She could understand that these people didn’t want to waste her time despite what she might say. It would be considered rude and especially to someone so high up. At the same time, she would much rather hear everything so she could make a better decision for the final outcome.

However, she could also hardly complain when she had a moment to herself. As she watched the birds chirp and people walking outside, it was nice not doing something for once. It almost seemed as if everything was normal. Suddenly, a small frown appeared on her face before she looked back at the door.

“I hope that everything’s okay…” She mumbled to herself as she stared down at her tea. Watching it swirl around, it was clear that something else was going through her mind. While Nunnally wasn’t religious, she can’t help but wonder about her family. Were Lelouch and Euphemia watching over her? Were they proud of what she has done lately? In fact, what were they doing right now up there? Or better yet, how about the millions of people who lost their lives? What were they doing now?

There were so many thoughts running through her mind and she didn’t know how to make them stop. Suddenly, she wished that the doors would open. It would give her a chance to do something rather than dwell in her own mind. Once again, with a heavy sigh, all she could do was wait. It was funny, she thought to herself, all she ever wanted was just a peaceful life with her family and friends by her side. There were several times where she thought if all of this was her fault. If Lelouch never wanted to bring world peace for her sake, perhaps none of them would have happened.

At the same time, she also couldn’t deny that it might have been for the better. Granted, there were many things along the way that could have been handled differently but things were much better now. Peace was finally moving along and everyone was happy. Was this truly what Lelouch had in mind?

Whatever the case, she didn’t have to time to think of such thoughts. Now that the doors finally opened, she gave a small smile to herself. It was time to be a Viceroy now and she should make use of it.
